  • Brad Lesley Pugeva Sad to hear,te hange initiat e nguu tauiku na oti atu and suported by our formar MPs and other concerns people from Renbel kate tuki nei... the point I mean to raise here is I'm blaming our carvers and weavers, the story I heard is since many years back there were agreement between carvers and mps to the authority (mendana) to attract tourists into there compound but seeing that the carving house has no up grading and suportive from our mp and renbel concerns and the carving association failed to manage themselves then this is what happen...te hange nei ka manga hai songonga aki ai but this house saved the Renbel carvers to meet their needs and school fees and te hange noko manga i ai otatou tauiku,te hange okioki,ba'aki mate sele ai he kabingi kate tuki ena doki nei...no jokes over this cos bae umi lukim bad effects blo hem in few days...te idea ke transfer kite art gallery is not sure cos mifala artists association where we suposed to have right to use that properties te manga tau mai tu'a...ok,nara ting mi laik share and comment lo hem tu is that our carvings and baskets hem die out na compared ki western province ku ha'ao e kingatou tatou kete mate kabingi.umi nomoa careless and weak for duim carving n weaving gud...so that include kite mate anga tatou kabingi, otatou tauiku na oti atu noko hakatoto'o ngaoi ina kabingi, haka shell in patterns and waka blo oketa fine tumas...sorre go lo oketa carvers, hope they can manage themselves.
  • Dorin S K Manatunga I was at the Australian Museum in Sydney last year and was fortunate to have met the curator who showed me alot of the Renbel carvings and baskets. I was astounded to see such fine work from our tauiku. I hope the carvers and weavers of today followed the trend from previous carvers. Sad tumas that olketa tekem down carving house and I hope olketa findim new location for it.
  • Spink Mahuta Manga huai maongi te concern nei, ka tenga ta'aku, despite this memorable site being pulled down, our carvings can still be housed, but I'd rather see that our style of crafts needs to be changed to the demands of our new age. Te eagle mate duka and girl fish, kua he'e huai tau'i... heheh!
  • Sione Tuhaika Simple: Mendana garem own carving place too!! Business as usual... our carvers are mostly old people no eni leader. They should have formed a strong group raise money, and rent a place or at least build a hut somewhere. They should have seen this day coming!
  • Don TeMoana AngikiAmo Huai maongi na mea manga mentioned e BLP the ,importance and significance but tena mau te problem, ngu tauiku(idea). Huaia advise or staunch karage kina ideas to help improve the place. I remember young kebo entreprenuers tried to organise the women buta alka blah blah blah or yah yah yah gogo no anything happen. But anyway 99 percent of au popultion were touched by this carving house in many waits, school fees, to'o ngongo, tapa ai na ingoa ho'ou etc, i think they have not seen this day coming, how mas for second coming. But true hem a sad chapter lo kebo geez existence lo town.
  • Spink Mahuta I doubt it Don, hehe!! They have seen it coming, but no one see it more serious... heheheh!
  • Jason Saungongo intending candidate chance na ya.. showm power, do something 2 help our carvers. another thing creative is our thing n am %100.1 sure we will come back strong with unique products. dis is just a set back
  • Tautai Agikimua Kaituu JS.Kimatou kua haka pupugu kite tutu'u kite election next year,me fela candidates nomore and me fela no garem power. We have leaders who have the power and money and they should jump in and help our people/carvers.Aue.
    TA Kaituu
  • Jason Saungongo sorry for my direct comment TA but somebody need to step in n initiate something
  • Tautai Agikimua Kaituu JS manga huai set.cheers
  • Spink Mahuta Anyone can do something than just in a leader's power. We need our carvers and friends to work together on a common ground...
  • Wii Txt Exactly spink. We dont have to be mp to do this. Big part part of Belona economy depend lo carving house ya. We need to help them. Konei na mea e fundraising kinai ka manga hee tau pengea take charge and drive it forward.
  • Spink Mahuta It is sad, that our carvers will always be sought when an upcoming arts festival is in few days time. Why now?? Ma time for helpen oketa for continue helpem province lo culture blo iumi nao ia... hehe!
  • Steven Abia many of us renbel pple owe our education and survival in Honiara to this house and it is really sad to see it go like this.
